The music world has lost a genuinely talented drummer and friend to many. Joey Jordison has passed away at the young age of 46 years old. Founding member of Slipknot in ‘95 and originally dubbed as ‘The Pale Ones’, Jordison has since been showing the world his talents behind the kit with his own style of play and showmanship like only he could.
In a statement from his family's representative, “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow,” reads a statement from Jordison’s family. “To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans, and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time.”
We are very regretful to inform you all of the passing of one of music’s greatest contributors to the community of drumming and music as a whole, and encourage everyone to respect the band and family’s privacy during this time. As fans of Slipknot and Mr. Jordison, let’s blast IOWA and other works of Joey’s all week long with your metal horns in the air. Rock in peace Joey Jordison!
